How does Invisalign work?

The Invisalign system is very popular, because it allows people to attain their dream of straightening their teeth discreetly. The system uses clear plastic aligners, instead of metal brackets and wires, to align the teeth. These fit securely around the outside of the teeth. The aligners are invisible and virtually undetectable while being worn.

Using a computer with specialized CAD/CAM software, along with advanced imaging of your teeth and jaw, the ideal alignment of your teeth is calculated. Aligners are then created, representing gradual steps toward this ideal alignment. During your treatment, you’ll wear each set of aligners for about two weeks, and then switch to the next one. This will gradually shift your teeth closer and closer to the desired alignment. When you reach your treatment goal, you’ll switch to clear plastic retainers to maintain your results. The retainers are worn full-time for a few weeks, and then at night for the long term.
